  • Melaleuca Alternifolia
  • Water
  • Calamine lotion
  • Small glass bottle (preferably with a dropper)

Mix together 2 parts Melaleuca Alternifolia with 1 part water in a small bowl.

After shaking the bottle well, fill a glass bottle about 1/3 of the way up with calamine lotion.

Add Melalueca-water mixture to the bottle until it contains roughly a 1:1 ratio with the calamine lotion.

Do not mix or shake, and allow the bottle to settle for several hours.

To apply, dip a cotton swab all the way to the bottom of the bottle, dab onto desired area (it will leave a pink mark on the skin), and leave overnight.

How to Repel Gnats Naturally

Gnats are one of the biggest annoyances that can invade your space. They get into the house and become tiny sources of frustration. Did you know that some types of gnats even bite you and survive off your blood!

They are small and fly quite fast, so it isn’t always easy to kill them. Speaking of killing gnats, if you have ever had a gnat problem, you know that is no small feat to attempt.

Well, I have some suggested ideas for how to repel gnats naturally with essential oils.

Young Living Essential Oils Needed:
  • Spearmint
  • Peppermint
  • Geranium
  • Eucalyptus
  • Lemongrass

You may use one or more of the above oils, depending on what you find to work and which you prefer the smell of, or using for something else as well. More than 1 use for an oil is always a good thing, right?

Repellent Spray
With this method, you will need a glass spray bottle. Combine 5-10 drops of essential oil, 1-2 teaspoons of witch hazel, and purified water to the bottle. Shake before use.

Apply topically
Depending on the essential oil used, you may or may not be able to apply it neat. Look at the back of the bottle to see which method may be used with your oil.

Use 5-8 drops of the desired essential oils in your diffuser to send the gnats out of the room you are in.

Remember above where I mentioned that gnats also bite you? Well, if that happened to you and are looking for an essential oil to use for that, you can try the following Young Living essential oils: Lavender, Purification, Thyme, or Lemon. Remember to look and see if it needs to be diluted first.
